| RV Skirting is a small
family operated mobile company. When you call for a skirt we come to
your location in your state, fit, design, sew and install your Skirt
usually in a day. We started making skirting almost 15 years ago locally
in Loveland Colorado, then branching out into neighboring states on
short trips. We’ve always tried to make our skirts look better and
last longer than any others out there. We make you look good.
Our children are now older and a big part of the business. All three
are part of the skirting crew, each one with a specialty job but also
able to take over any job if needed. It’s like a well oiled family
machine.
We like to do 1 job - 1 customer at a time and only family for our
main workers. In this way we spend more time with you - our customer,
find your needs for your skirt, how you want to use it, where you go,
your preferences, and we are there on the job till completion. The best
of everything is put into each skirt. Some customers may still have
special requests and require additional custom work which makes sewing
on site just the ticket.
RV Skirting is made of 18 ounce Vinyl Truck Tarp, American fabric not
the imported stuff. It is reinforced with polyester mesh inside to
prevent ripping.
The average skirt comes in 5 to 9
pieces for ease in use
and in transporting.
5th wheel fronts are
made into 3 pieces with zippers at the corners for easy access to
storage.
The skirt is installed on your RV
using Turn buttons every 12”.
The turn buttons are
nickel plated for marine use, and we use 2 stainless steel screws to
hold them in place on your RV. A few twists of these and your skirt is
on in any type of weather, the wind will not pull it loose like Velcro
or snaps. To hold each part together we use #10 YKK brand “Marinemate
Zippers”. These are auto locking zippers that are UV-resistant. The
wind will not open these. Each zipper is double sewn on with more
stitching at the top where a zipper may come loose. Our zippers are
hidden behind material for better looks. We put large hems on each piece
for strength and durability.
E ach skirt is made longer for uneven RV Parks
and areas, The average customer wants 6-8“
extra, some like more say 8-10“ extra on the bottom, let us know. At
the bottom we sew in a 5” pocket for 1-¼” PVC pipe, every 3-4’ we
sew on a nail down strap, each strap has at least 14 stitching lines for
strength. These straps can be nailed through at any point to hold the
skirt secure at any height. Straps have been tested with our truck and a
pull, a chain and some nails… they are extremely hard to rip.
There is extra material sewn in on slide out corners as “wear pads”
to prevent holes or tears on the sharp corners. We
use snaps where the slide outs go in and out for
clearance, and also in the step areas. Hitches also get extra material
for skirt protection or we may sew on a box to encase the hitch with the
skirt. We enclose the hitch for heat reasons. This hitch is all metal
and welded to the metal frame of the RV, leaving it exposed to the
elements and letting more cold get to the underside of your RV. Even
with a hitch box you can use a hitch stand. Sewers have zipper access
with 2 zipper heads allowing your sewer pipe to come through the skirt
then be zipped closed around the pipe. Valves also have zipper access if
they are below the skirt line, allowing ease in use without removing the
skirt.
The 1-¼” PVC pipe for the bottom pocket is cut into 5’
lengths for easy transport. We include a bag for the PVC pipe and 2 for
the skirting. The nails to hold the skirt are also included. We try to
make each skirt a complete job with nothing left for you to do when we
are done. If you are in a place where the skirt cannot be nailed down,
you can also use sand bags. If you supply the sand bags we are happy to
put them in place for you.
When we are done with the job, we walk around your newly skirted RV
and make sure everything is the way you wanted and expected. In sewing
on site there is not really a reason for any mistakes or a bad fit,
anything can be adjusted right then. We put our name on each skirt, not
on the front-you know who made your skirt, we put our logo on the back
side where your neighbors will see it.
The average 36’ skirt with 2 slides is approx. 110 lbs. This
includes the skirt, bags, PVC and nails. It can be folded up small
enough to fit on your passenger seat or nice and wide and flat in one of
your compartments. We are happy to send out color or skirting samples to
our potential customers. Our pricing is on our website, our business
cards and brochures in chart form by length of the RV and slide outs.
Pull trailer skirting is designed to go around all the hitch frames
and wiring, bumpers and other items. Motor homes can be designed to get
into each cabinet or compartment if needed, this is a bit more custom
work.
Our busiest season is August to January, we get so many calls during
this period we are not able to get to all the people. For this reason we
work year round and try to get as many people to get
a skirt in the spring and summer. Skirting is
warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and Makes you look
good!
